I've been on the faculty of the Department of Communication since 1971, serving as Chair for the past decade. I hold the title of University Distinguished Professor.
I teach and conduct research on mass communication campaigns, particularly in the health domain; based on sustained accomplishments in applied research on health campaigns, I received the 2006 Decade of Behavior Award from a consortium of social science organizations.
My current grants focus on collegiate alcohol prevention campaign strategies and breast cancer communication. My latest book is "Public Communication Campaigns" (with Ron Rice), which was selected as the NCA Health Communication 2006 outstanding book of the year.
