Dr. Paek’s research interests focus on the effects of health messages on individual health, in conjunction with social perceptions, social interactions, and social contexts. She also studies the application of social marketing principles for promoting public health and wellbeing. The five major topics she is currently working on are youth smoking, child obesity, media health literacy, child abuse and neglect prevention, and food marketing and safety. She teaches social marketing and advertising and public relations message strategy. She has previously taught courses in research methods and mass communication theory.
