Wilma Novales-Wibert, Ph.D.

Grant Specialist

Dr. Wilma Novalés is a grant specialist for the Health & Risk Communication Center at Michigan State University.  The grant team has received funded grants from federal agencies and foundations for health communication campaigns. Her Ph.D. is in Family and Child Ecology with her research interests focusing on minority health and educational issues in America.  Recently she was inducted into Western Michigan University’s Outstanding Alumni Academy (2008) for her commitment to the minority community. Currently, Dr. Novalés is involved in research related to the collegiate educational success of Mexican American migrant farm worker families. She also teaches a college course on public speaking to a unique high school student population. The course is designed to prepare inner city high school juniors and seniors for life after high school with the primary focus of encouraging them towards a college degree. The course is offered by Michigan State University and is a fast-paced combination of traditional learning ideas with blending of modern technology in areas such as online presentations.
