A Note from the Director

The MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences Health & Risk Communication Center (HRCC): Healthy People-Healthy Planet is a network of over 50 faculty members who engage in communication-based research, education, and public engagement related to risk reduction and health promotion. Our Healthy People-Healthy Planet approach to communication recognizes the synergies and benefits of the intersection of human, animal, and ecological health. The HRCC is also home to a thriving Health & Risk Communication Masters of Arts program with graduates working in public and private health, risk, and environmental communication organizations across the world.

The HRCC team includes experts in health, risk, environmental, and science communication including: campaigns and interventions, intercultural and diversity, neurocognitive and biological, technology, and other areas. Our researchers use quantitative and qualitative methods to study topics related to a wide variety of topical areas ranging from obesity to water conservation. Faculty and students regularly collaborate with non-profits, health and environmental organizations, and governmental organizations. The Communication Arts and Sciences health and risk communication research portfolio is consistently ranked as one of the top in the US and the world.
